Oxted United Reformed Church is again sponsoring this Festival. It is preceded and followed by events organised in conjunction with the Oxted Childrens Book Group. An Exhibition of painting, photography and graphic art is open throughout. October 25 and Sunday 26 Saltmine Theatre Company's 'The Chainbreakers', by Richard Hasnip about the fight for the abolition of slavery. October 27 Justine Picardie talks about her latest novel 'Daphne' (about Daphne du Maurier). October 28 the BBC's Frank Gardner delivers the 2008 Snelling Lecture. Tickets already sold out. October 29 Kosmos ensemble will lead workshops and perform exciting Balkan, gypsy and East European music, cafe style. October 30 Adrian Plass, well known Christian speaker and writer takes a sideways look at unexpected aspects of the Christian faith in 'View from a Bouncy Castle' October 31 7.30pm Denis Norden presents Clips from Life to coincide with publication of his book by the same name. Books on sale with book signing. Saturday 1 November Sinfonietta orchestral concert, directed by Johan Katz with Louise Martin, harp Sunday 2 November Young East Surrey musicians sponsored by the Robert Bouffler Trust will perform. The Festival is enclosed by 'Sundays at Ten' - worship led by the Minister, Rev Adrian Skelton. Rev David Skitt preaches on 26 October and Dr Paul Heppleston assists with music on 2 November. The Colonel's Fund Grenadier Guards. This has been created by Prince Philip, particularly in view of the fact that no less than 5 young Guardsmen have lost their lives, 32 been severely wounded and many more seriously traumatized during recent operations in Afghanistan. Furthermore the First Battalion is due to return to a second tour of duty in Afghanistan as soon as 2009. The Fund supports families, those wounded or injured on operations, particularly those who have had to leave the Army who need help in finding new employment and becoming active family and community members.
